GUEST INFORMATION

Welcome to North Cottage – we hope you have a great stay! Please make yourself at home

There are 3 rules to ensure all our guests have a safe and pleasant stay:
·      No Smoking in any part of the house
·      No Pets 
·      Occupancy is a maximum of 10 guests
·      We also appreciate not wearing outdoor shoes inside the house.

Please phone us with any problems while you’re here – not afterwards 

·      Keys: When you leave the house please leave the keys in the key safe (above water butt) so everyone in your group has access.
·      When you’re inside the house please leave the keys in the inside lock of the front door. Please do not remove keys from other locks.

Every time you leave the house please ensure all external doors are locked and all ground floor windows closed

Parking Always follow operating instructions posted by parking gate. Ensure the pathway (Yellow Rope) of the gate swing is completely clear before use.
DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN INSIDE YELLOW ROPE WHEN GATE IS MOVING
ONCE THE GATE IS MOVING IT WILL NOT STOP
DO NOT PARK OR STOP ANY VEHICLE INSIDE THE YELLOW ROPE
DO NOT WALK THROUGH THE GATE WHEN IT’S CLOSING – BECAUSE IT WILL RE-OPEN

Bicycles may be stored (locked) under the covered shelters by the herb garden. 

There is no access to the locked garage. It contains maintenance materials.

Please do not use the pedestrian gate at the far end of the garden. The path passes over a neighbour’s land. The wilderness garden next door is unused.
Cloakroom Storage for all coats, outside footwear, buggies and beach stuff etc. Beach towels are available here (please launder if you use these).

Kitchen 
The Aga is switched off during the summer months (May – September inc).
There’s an electric oven and induction hob for year round use. Please don’t leave anything on the hob unsupervised. Safety Warning - Heart pacemaker users must keep at least 30cm from the induction hob when it is in use.

Rubbish and Recycling
·      Metal bin = refuse. Empty into black wheelie bin. Spare bags under sink. Wheelie bin is collected before 7am Monday from the driveway.
·      Plastic flip top bin is for recycling glass ONLY (we take to bottle bank). Leave any surplus glass in a bin bag by the wheelie bins.
·      Sorry, there is no other recycling due to commercial waste rules.

Living Room, Garden Room and Study - facilities

·      Please use and enjoy the books, games and DVD library (study)
These are not guaranteed COVID-19 free. Don’t use for first 72 hours
·      Please be aware of the large glass windows when playing ball games.

The Wood Burner – Please read the instructions before use
·      Only adults should operate the wood burner
·      The fireguard (cloakroom) must be in place when children are present 
·      Children must not be left unsupervised when the fire is burning

Hot Water and Gas Central Heating
·      In colder weather the central heating is scheduled to come on automatically from 06:00-10:00 and 16:00-23:00 at 21C. 
·      During the day it is set automatically set to 20C and at night 18C.
·      The thermostat in the hallway automatically controls the heating and hot water
·      The hot water is stored in a large tank (so is not unlimited) and programmed to be hot 06:00-10:00 and 16:00-22:00
·      If you require extra hot water press the concealed button (on top of the unit) on the hallway thermostat.

·      Each press gives an extra ‘boost’ +1 hour up to a maximum of 6 hours.
·      There are thermostats on all the radiators
·      If there are any problems with the heating or hot water please call us immediately and we can help. We can control the heating remotely.


Laundry Miele washing machine and Miele condenser tumble dryer 
·      Instruction Manuals are provided in the guest folder
·      There are quick start guides near the appliances and our video channel
·      Drying racks in the laundry room and clothesline in the courtyard
·      Please do not put shoes or very sandy items in the washing machine or dryer - these appliances are used to wash guest bed linens and towels.

Out and about – shopping and dining
·      There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops a short walk away in Cromer.
·      There are also local fishmongers, butcher and vegetable store
·      Supermarkets: The Co-Op (5 minutes walk) Morrisons (15 minutes walk) Lidl (20 minutes walk) Larger Co-Op (20 minutes walk) all along the Holt Road
·      Supermarkets further afield: Sainsbury’s (with petrol) and Waitrose -North Walsham. Tesco (no petrol) Sheringham, M&S /BP outlet Burgh Road, Aylsham
·      Petrol: Morrisons petrol station in the centre of Cromer (1 mile away, 5 minutes drive) on Holt Road
