History of
North Cottage Cromer
North Cottage was originally built as the schoolmaster’s house for the early 19th century Cromer boys school. When the school closed in 1895 wealthy Richard Hoare purchased the entire estate – the school building and schoolmaster’s house, nearby hunting lodge North Lodge and its stables. He paid £3,000 for all of it. He then set about extending North Cottage and more than doubled its size!
