Searching for a cottage in Norfolk to spend Christmas or New Year with family?

This is the time of year when thoughts turn to the next big family get together – Christmas and New Year.

Not many families can host Christmas or New Year at home. There just aren’t enough bedrooms, the kitchen isn’t big enough, the dining table won’t seat everyone, the living room is too small, the driveway only takes two cars or its too far to travel. There’s always a potential problem to prevent a Christmas get together!

Renting a holiday cottage can be the perfect solution – but finding a luxurious house big enough for all the family to get together comfortably can be a challenge. Picking the right location convenient for everyone to travel to adds another dimension to the puzzle.

North Cottage Cromer on the coast in North Norfolk is used to hosting large, multi-generation families. We’ve been doing it for 7 years and during that time we’ve amassed over 100 five star reviews from our guests.

Our guests find Norfolk is the ideal “halfway” location to bring families from all over the country – north, south, midlands, Scotland, together and even works for family from overseas. Stansted airport is within 2 hours by road and rail – Cromer has its own railway station that links to Norwich regulary and from there on to London.

North Cottage Cromer is a very large house and ensures when all the family arrive everyone will be comfortable while they’re celebrating together.

We offer 6 large double bedrooms, including one King bedroom on the ground floor (ideal for the grandparents, it even has a TV and sofa so they can get a bit of peace and quiet). There are 3 king bedrooms, a double and two twin bedded rooms – sleeping a total of 12 guests.

The Garden Room at North Cottage comfortably seats all 12 guests. There's a smart Sony TV, indoor and garden games and table foosball.

When it comes to the family spending time together (which after all is the whole point) the house has a 74 metre square garden room furnished with 4 large quality sofas and 7 armchairs – providing more than enough comfy seating for everyone. There’s a 55 inch Sony smart TV and DVD player as well as a professional table football and a host of family favourite board games and jigsaws – all in all – plenty of entertainment for all the family.

There’s also a separate living room seating up to 9 adults with another 50 inch smart Sony TV, DVD player and a log burner. A quiet room to get away from all the activity in the Garden Room.

When it comes to catering, there’s an AGA, an electric oven, hob, large fridge freezer, separate drinks fridge, dishwasher, microwave and a fully equipped kitchen for all kinds of roasting, baking and cooking.

For dining there’s an oval table that seats all 12 guests in the dining room (linked to the kitchen through an archway) and another dining table in the conservatory that seats 10 guests (although in all honesty it seats 8 more comfortably).

Parking wise, the secure gated gravel driveway accommodates 4 large vehicles or 5 standard vehicles (there’s no charging for EV’s but there are many public chargers nearby, including Morrisons Supermarket, McDonalds and the Meadow Road car park).

Cromer is a charming seaside town to spend the festive season. The lanes are festooned with lights, and there’s a lit Christmas tree in the churchyard. There’s even a free firework display from the Pier on New Year’s Day.

The town has plenty of independent shops and specialist butchers and bakeries and if you can’t find what you’re looking for there are 4 larger supermarkets and an Argos where you can order almost anything last minute. It’s just like Christmas should be.

The famous end of the Pier Christmas show attracts sell out audiences from far and wide, but if you’re staying at North Cottage Cromer you won’t have far to travel – it’s just a short walk from your front door to the end of the pier.

There are cosy pubs and restaurants (The Red Lion overlooking the sea is one of our favourites) and Cromer even has it’s own bijoux multiplex cinema!
