Searching for a ‘dog free’ – large Norfolk cottage? You’ve found it!

North Cottage Cromer - exterior as glimpsed from North Lodge Park.

Dog owners rightly love their pets and definitely want them to come on holiday too, if they can – travelling abroad with a dog can be a bit of a challenge, obviously. But not everyone gets along so well in canine company or enjoys spending time in cottages where dogs have previously shared the space too.

North Cottage Cromer (sleeps 12, 6 bedrooms) doesn’t allow pets, ever. We welcome guests who choose to stay with us because they’re specifically looking for a pet free holiday cottage, and with very good reason. One of our most regular guests even has a life challenging allergic reaction to pets.

So we completely understand who pet-free holiday homes appeal to. Some of those people are guests who just don’t like the idea of staying in a holiday cottage where animals are allowed to roam. But for guests who suffer from asthma, skin irritations or more serious allergies or health conditions a pet-free stay is essential. Completely cleaning all traces of pet hair and dander is almost impossible so choosing a holiday cottage that’s never accepted any pets, ever, makes perfect sense for them.

We’re always surprised when North Cottage Cromer is returned in google search results for ‘dog friendly cottages Cromer’ because we don’t mention this anywhere on our website! If google has bought you here please feel free to move on, there’s nothing to see here!

Around half of all families now have pets (this figure went up during the pandemic) and there are many, many cottages that welcome dogs with open arms. So whatever your needs there’s bound to be a holiday home for you. Plenty of holiday cottages make a virtue of their love for dogs. We’re just not one of them.

North Cottage Cromer is firmly aimed at the other half of families, the families without dogs. Many young families want a garden that’s safe for toddlers – a space they can be sure is free from dog mess lurking in the lawn. These families know kitchens are cleaner when dogs don’t dwell there. Our guests prefer to sleep in a bed no dog has never shared. We understand this. So when we’re asked if we accept ‘just a small, well behaved dog’ we always politely decline. No exceptions, ever. And just to be clear we don’t own dogs, or accept visitors with dogs either.

Declining dogs has another big advantage – it’s far easier to clean to a very high standard. You won’t find any doggie damage here, no dubious damp patches or stains. We very much prize our 5* reviews (which is every review we’ve ever received). Our guests almost always mention the sparkling cleanliness at North Cottage Cromer and many of them say it’s a reason they come back year after year. No one wants to spend the start of their own holiday cleaning up. You definitely won’t do that here.

We take a great deal of care to ensure that all our furniture, furnishings and finishes are fresh and guest friendly. We’re a holiday cottage that rates ‘guest friendly’ far above ‘dog friendly’.

If this definitely sounds like the type of holiday cottage you’re hoping to find for your next family holiday or celebration – then good news – you’ve found us! We look forward to welcoming you to North Norfolk. And no, we never take ‘just a small, well behaved dog’ ever.
